What's Next After PA Advocacy Day? Here's How You Can Stay Involved

Ohio PA Advocacy Day 2025 Legislator Meeting Group Fun

Our Ohio PA Advocacy Day at the Statehouse was an amazing success. I was incredibly proud of the turnout and honored to have done the work that day with you!

Nearly 100 PAs and PA students met with legislators, delivered testimony in support of HB 353 (our PA Title Change Bill), and showed the strength of our profession's voice.

But advocacy doesn't end when the event is over. We must commit to remaining engaged. Real change occurs through ongoing engagement and relationship-building with legislators throughout the year.

Here's how you can keep the momentum going:

Your Post–Advocacy Day Checklist

Check MarkSupport PA advocacy financially
Getting good laws passed takes more than good ideas. It takes relationships, persistence, and funding. With 132 legislators in Ohio, it costs thousands to build connections, draft smart policy, and move a bill all the way to the governor’s desk. That’s why your support for the OAPA Legislative Fund and OAPA PAC matter. Every dollar helps us advocate effectively and make sure our priorities become Ohio law.

Check MarkReview HB 353 resources
Get familiar with the PA Title Change initiative and understand its significance. Be ready when it's time to take action again. View our HB 353 resources.

Check MarkSubscribe to your legislators' newsletters
Sign up for updates from your State Representative and Senator. Understanding their priorities helps you connect and communicate more effectively.

Check MarkMeet your legislators locally
Attend a town hall or community event in your district. Thank your legislator publicly for their service and introduce yourself as a PA or PA student. It's a great way to build name recognition and strengthen relationships.

Check MarkSend periodic email updates
A short, nonpartisan note every few months makes a difference. Share how PAs are improving patient care, highlight community involvement, or provide a brief update on HB 353.

Check MarkEngage on social media
Follow your legislators' official accounts. Like and comment on their posts related to healthcare or community service. Showing engagement helps keep PAs top of mind.

Check MarkStay connected with OAPA
Follow along with all our advocacy efforts on OAPA's legislative page and social media channels (@OhioPAs) to stay informed on updates and action alerts.

Check MarkShare your story with OAPA
Help us strengthen our advocacy by sharing how Ohio law impacts your ability to care for patients. Your real-world experiences shape the conversations we have with policymakers.

Advocacy is never-ending.

Our work doesn't stop after one day at the Statehouse. It continues in our inboxes, communities, and conversations. Every story shared, every connection made, and every contribution helps move our profession forward.

Let's keep the momentum going, together.
